One of my favorite movies, 'Being There,' includes a short TV segment called 'Basketball Jones.' Now, I knew this was Cheech & Chong, but Kellye didn't believe me. 15 years ago, what were my options? Tonight she types two words into YouTube's input field and presto! Instant flashback.
Now, consider this source. Cheech and Chong. Would this offend anyone today?
I do random searches sometimes. In everything. Ever since the first web crawlers started popping up, I had this curiosity about words on the web. So I search Vox for the tag "cheech."
There were no recent posts tagged "cheech." OK, how about ever? I mean, what if Cheech Marin blogged about beating his dog to death a month ago, but the tag search only goes back 3 weeks? The world may never know about Cheech's issues with his rage.
Of course, now I can tag this post with Cheech, and not worry about it. But that isn't the point.
Next time you're bored (haha), type a random word into your favorite search engine.
I forgive you, Cheech.
