What a day! It was raining a bit this morning just as we were supposed to be heading for soccer, and with the kids still snuffling and coughing a bit we decided to pass. I asked Weston repeatedly if he was sure, but he kept saying he'd rather rest.
So after a nice big breakfast we pulled in the Omagles and Little People. Weston was in the den playing with Omagles-- the first time I haven't had to supervise. He just built a bunch of Dr. Seussian tubes that "did stuff." Belle joined him until I got the Little People semi-set up. Then she just jumped in and got her little city moving.
We weren't bumps on a log all day. Sure enough the sun came out and it was time to go to Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party. The kids had a great time and we were there for over 2 hours! Yikes.
After we got home I very nearly passed out. Last night I didn't get much sleep. Now I know what "mom ears" means. Every little bump, sniffle and cough woke me. We'll see how tonight goes-- we are on no meds...
The twist for today was the Rossini Festival. We've never been, as much as I've always wanted to go. I think every year it has rained or something, but when the weather turned stunning we just had to go. It is only one day, and there's such a collection of artisans, music and food. Of course, I didn't have enough hands to enjoy any big boy food, but the bag of kettle corn I bought kept Weston happy the entire time. And we were there for a couple of hours as well, touring most of the festival. As we were walking back through Market Square Belle said she wanted to jump on those bungee-trampoline hybrid things. A year or so ago she chickened out. But this time she was ready. She had a blast, even if her butt was hanging out at the end.
By the time we got home it was nearly 8pm already! A quick dinner and down for bed... chances are I'll join them pretty soon because I am absolutely beat.
